About Oh Me Oh My

I'm Monica and I am the maker behind Oh Me Oh My Sewing. I've loved sewing since I was a little girl. All throughout my childhood I made coin purses, pillows, and teddy bears. When I was a teenager I started sewing my own clothes (without patterns funny enough). When I was sixteen I started my first Etsy shop. Sending my cat and mustache print dresses all over the world was inspiring and rewarding but I closed the shop when it was time for me to go to college. I learned a lot studying fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. After graduating, I jumped right back into Etsy with my new name: Oh Me Oh My.

Oh Me Oh My Clothing had the same quirky style as my previous Etsy shop but now I had more skills to grow my business. For about a year after college I lived with my parents trying to get the business off the ground. When I was finally making enough money to support myself I moved from my hometown of beautiful Santa Cruz California to the also beautiful but more wet, Portland Oregon to be with my lovely boyfriend, Asher. There, sewing for Oh Me Oh My Clothing, I had the idea to start making sewing patterns. As soon as I thought of it I knew I had to do it.

I first made women's patterns but didn't see the success that I wanted and I didn't have much time to work on them so it was slow progress. Then I made a little baby pinafore dress and received a great response. I made more baby clothing patterns in my classic whimsical prints and they continued to do well. Now I only make sewing patterns and I am so thankful to spend my whole day thinking up new cute rompers for people to make for their children. Sewing has always been a big part of my life and I'm so happy I get to share the joy it brings me with others.

I spend all day in my sewing room with the big bay windows pattern drafting, photographing, laying it all out in InDesign and everything else needed to make these patterns. Oh Me Oh My patterns are for creative adults who want to make unique clothing for quirky cool kids. I try to make all my patterns stylish but simple, so even beginners can make themselves an adorable garment. I am a visual learner so I include photos of each step to guide you through the process and all the sizes are different colors so it’s easy to cut out the one you’d like. I want to help you make something special for a kiddo you care about. Let’s sew something together!
